3년만에 발표한 앨범\"The Emancipation of Mimi\"가 Album Of The Year 부문을 비롯, 수록 싱글인 \"We Belong Together\"로 Record Of The Year 부분에 오르면서 그래미의 주요8개 부문에 노미네이트되었다.

Mariah Carey는 지난달 22일 미국 로스앤젤레스에서 열린 [2005 아메리칸 뮤직 어워드]에서 \"소울 / R&B 여자가수상\"을 수상한데 이어, 지난 8월 \'2005 틴초이스 어워즈\'의 \'초이스 뮤직 R&B 아티스트상\'과 9월에 열린 \'월드뮤직 어워즈\'의 \'R&B 최고 음반판매상\'을 수상하며 \'돌아온 디바\'로의 명성을 과시했다.

이번 그래미상에서 Mariah Carey는 John Legend와 Kanye West와 경합을 벌이게 된다.

제 48회 그래미 수상식은 내년 2월 로스앤젤레스에 위치한 Staples Center에서 거행된다.
