2004년 제16회 브릿 어워즈의 최다수상후보는 신진 록 밴드 다크니스로 'British Group' 'British Rock Act' 'British Breakthrough Artist', 그리고 앨범 「Permission To Land」로 'MasterCard Best British Album'까지 최다인 4개부문 수상후보로 지명되었다.

이어서는 Dido, Dizzee Rascal, Daniel Bedingfield, Busted가 각각 3개부문 수상후보로 지명되었고, Justin Timberlake와 Christina Aguilera도 인터내셔널 필즈에서 각각 3개부문 수상후보로 지명되었다.

영국의 그래미인 브릿 어워즈는 2004.2.17일 런던의 얼스 커트에서 열려 16개부문 시상을 한다.
